Dr. Montano specializes in adjusting canines of all breeds at all stages of life.
Puppy Wellness
We all know how active our puppies can be. Adjustments can help them recover from all of the tumbles they take throughout puppyhood and will help their overall wellness for years to come. Different breeds are susceptible to various issues, and it is important to keep that in mind from a very early age. Whether your dog is a large breed susceptible to hip issues or a small breed that commonly has disc issues, chiropractic care can be an important part of their puppy wellness.
Performance Animals
Does your dog compete in agility or any other dog sports for which they need to be in top shape? Regular adjustments are a great way to help prevent sports injuries and keep your athlete functioning at an optimal level.
Senior Wellness
Senior wellness is one of the more common reasons we are sought out for chiropractic care. As our pets age and slow down, we start to notice changes in their mobility and their ability to do regular activities of daily living. Chiropractic care is a great option to help keep your senior pets mobile and reduce their pain in their later years.
Working Dogs
If your dog has a job to do, you want them to be able to perform their duties to the best of their ability. Service dogs, herding dogs, therapy dogs, hunting dogs, and many others can benefit from chiropractic care.
Why we're different
My animal chiropractor doesn't do that
Animal Science Specialization
Prior to becoming a chiropractor, Dr. Montano earned a Bachelor's in Animal Science. She worked in small veterinary clinics throughout her undergraduate and graduate programs. Chiropractors are trained to treat humans, so when Dr. Montano went through her additional training in Animal Chiropractic, she was already comfortable, prepared and experienced working with animals. Some clients ask how it is possible for a dog to sit and behave during a chiropractic adjustment. We tell them that part of Dr. Montano's training has been in holding (restraining) animals and learning their cues which ultimately helps to handle the pet, have control and safely perform chiropractic adjustments on them.
Thorough Examinations
Chiropractic care is meant to get to the root cause of the issue. In order to find the cause of what is going on with your pet, a thorough examination is necessary. Dr. Montano has gone through the proper training and certification process to perform such examination on your pet. This will give her the ability to determine the best treatment plan for your pet going forward. It may also give Dr. Montano important information which would bring about a referral to your pet's veterinarian if the condition was out of her scope of practice. Keep in mind that it is important for your pet to see their regular veterinarian for diagnosis. Animal chiropractors can only treat and diagnose spinal subluxation in the state of Colorado. Anything beyond this will be referred out.
Manual Adjustments
There are multiple factors that go into the decision to use an Activator instrument versus using a hands-only approach to perform an adjustment. This will be determined after a full history is taken and examination is performed. Prior to treatment, Dr. Montano will discuss these options with the owner. As always, the pet will receive the most appropriate treatment for their presented condition that will benefit them most greatly.
